Emily K Bell

Wellesley College
Conservator
Wellesley, MA
Emily K. Bell has a diploma in conservation from the American Academy of Bookbinding (AAB). Her paper, about using structural elements of books to situate them in time and place, was well received by the AAB jury, and with their encouragement she is currently turning it into a series of articles for the Guild of Book Workers Newsletter. Emily discovered conservation as a way to combine her interest in science, love of laboratory work, and passion for crafts. Her first experiences in the field were as a volunteer Conservation Intern at The Textile Museum in Washington, D.C. She was a Conservation Technician at the University of Maryland Libraries from 2001 to 2006, and has been the Collections Conservator at Wellesley College since 2006.
