Julie Biggs is a Senior Paper Conservator at the Library of Congress, where she has focused on treatment of manuscripts and works on paper, led iron-gall ink treatment research, and managed large-scale collection stabilization and re-housing projects. She previously worked as a senior paper conservator at the Folger Shakespeare Library and as a freelance conservator in Washington D.C. and in Rome, Italy. Julie graduated with a BSc Hons in Biology from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and a Diploma in Paper and Book Conservation from the Istituto per l’Arte e il Restauro in Florence, Italy. She has a specialization in the conservation of iron-gall ink and provides consultations and teaches workshops in the United States and in Europe. Julie's current interests include mentoring, communication, and outreach.
